Throughout the 1998 plan of management for Sydney Harbour National Park, repeated reference is made to Crater Cove.

According to the Geographical Names Board, no such name exists.

The correct name for the area is Crater Valley.

Crater Valley is the name coined by the men who built the first huts in the area and Crater Valley is the name officially assigned to the area by the Geographical Names Board on December 5, 1986.
